This tour offers a great opportunity to explore two important Spanish cities in one day from Madrid, Segovia and Toledo and taking in some pretty rural landscape along the way. Visit the two UNESCO World Heritage cities Segovia and Toledo in this private day tour from Madrid:
To start the tour we will pick you up in a comfortable accessible vehicle and drive for 1 hour south of Madrid to Toledo. During the journey our official local tour guide from Madrid will be explaining the history of this ancient city and why it is one of the most important cities in Spain’s history. Our first stop will be Mirador del Valle, a viewpoint from where you can admire the beauty of Toledo’s walled centre. Once in the city, we’ll take a stroll along the old city to discover one of the richest monumental heritages in Europe, such as Bisagra Gate, Cristo de la Luz mosque or Santa María La Blanca and Tránsito synagogues. We will then visit Toledo’s cathedral, Catedral Primada, with it’s Mujedar ornamentation. Inside, there’s a museum with paintings by El Greco, Rafael, Tiziano or Goya. Almost all the halls in the cathedral’s museums are accessible.
After a lunch break to recharge we set off for one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Segovia. Here we will discover the Aqueduct of Segovia, one of the most intact Roman aqueducts in Europe. We will take stroll along the old city to see historical monuments such as the Episcopal Palace, the Jewish Quarter or the district of Canonjías. Then we will visit Segovia’s Cathedral, known as the Lady of the Cathedrals because of is height and beauty. It is an awesome work of architecture with elements such as huge stained-glass windows, beautiful chapels or exposition halls. The cathedral has ramps to reduce the level difference and that makes almost every hall of the cathedral accessible. The tour includes entry to the Alcázar of Segovia, and the Artillery Academy and Museum. From the outside the Alcazar looks like a pretty fairy tale palace, and once inside we can see different architectural styles of the kings that spent time here and gave it shape. Almost all the visit is on the ground floor and there are ramps that makes all the halls accessible.
Most streets in Toledo and Segovia are very old and they have irregular cobble stone pavement, so it’s recommended that some people depending on their level of mobility are accompanied. There are different adapted bathrooms mapped along the tour.
