Discover one of the oldest cities in Spain that dates back from the Neolithic period on our private day tour to Ronda. Celts, Phoenicians, Romans, and later Arabs, all inhabited Ronda until Catholic Monarch conquered its lands. We will pick you up from Seville, Málaga or Cadiz Port to enjoy this private day tour to Ronda and to learn more about its history and charismatic beauty.
We will start our private tour in Alameda del Tajo, a wooded walk that provides magnificent panoramic views of Ronda Mountain Range. Ronda’s bull ring is one of the oldest in Spain, and it is considered a Site of Cultural Interest due to its unique history and architecture. Walking along Paseo de Blas Infante, we will find Ronda viewpoint (la Sevillana) to enjoy the views of the landscape. Another symbol of Ronda is Puente Nuevo, an 18th Century bridge located over a chasm, that helped make urban development possible.
Once we arrive in the historic parts of town we will visit Casa don Bosco, a small palace that belonged to Granadino’s family, known for its beautiful patio, decorated with Nasrid tiles and regional ceramics; the garden with fantastic views to the landscape of Ronda; and a collection of 19th Century tapestries and furniture made of walnut. We will continue to Plaza de Campillos, where there’s a viewpoint and up ahead we will see Mondragon Palace, the most important civil monument in Ronda. According to the legend, the king Abbel Malik or Abomelic (son of Morocco’s Sultan Abul Asan) used to live there.
After a walk in the city centre, we will do a lunch break and have the chance to sample the local gastronomy, including the typical dish of stewed oxtail. We will finish our tour at Plaza de la Duquesa de Parcent, an architectural ensemble of stately houses, the city council, churches and convents, before we drive back to your hotel or cruise ship.
This tour does not require a high amount of walking or wheeling, and it can also be tailor-made based on each person preferences. Some points in Ronda have old stone pavement and also stairs. However, the itinerary avoids steps and it follows a mostly flat path along the tour.
