The Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Mary of the Incarnation, was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1962. One of the most impressive parts of the temple is it’s façade, made by Alonso Cano in the mid-17th century. Besides, we will admire the Chapel of the Trinity and it’s marvelous retablo with paintings by El Greco, Jusepe de Ribera and Alonso Cano.
Afterwards, we will discover the Royal Chapel of Granada, which houses the mortal remains of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand V of Aragon. The monument contains great artistic value as a great combination of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Here, we will visit the Museum, which was created in the Royal Chapel Sacristy and contains the most valuable belongings of the Catholic Monarchs. Also, we will see the grave of Joanna of Castile “the Mad”, Queen of Castile and Aragon, and her husband Philip I of Castile “the Handsome”.
