For this accessible Day-Trip Palma de Mallorca and Valldemossa, your guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel. First, you will drive along the Maritime Promenade to the Bellver Castle, one of the most unique examples of Gothic civil architecture in Mallorca. From the ramparts, enjoy fantastic views of the city and the port below. Moreover, it is a fantastic opportunity to capture the sight on camera!
We then continue to the old historical Gothic Quarter with its maze of tiny streets, plazas, and courtyards. The tour includes a visit to the 13th-century Gothic-styled Cathedral La Seu with its 44-meter-high nave and Baroque chapels. Parts of the Cathedral were designed by the Catalan Modernist architect Antoni Gaudi. Moreover, next to the cathedral, we find Almudaina Palace, a monument that was converted from an Arab fortress into the residence of the Kings of Mallorca. Afterward, we will continue towards Plaça d’Espanya, until we will reach Passeig del Born. It is one of the most lively streets in town, flanked by narrow medieval lanes as well as elegant 19th-century buildings.
Stopping for a lunch break (meal not included) we then continue our tour to Valldemossa. Tucked away in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains 20 km north of Palma, you will find the picturesque village of Valldemossa. In this beautiful setting, the guide will first walk you through the village and then the Carthusian Monastery. It is where the Polish composer Frederick Chopin and the French writer George Sands lived in 1838.
On your way back to Palma, you will finally drive along Palma’s Passeig Maritimo. We will pass by the exclusive yacht club, marina, and the fish market Sa Llotja, perhaps one of the most outstanding examples of Gothic civil architecture in all the Mediterranean area, with a great facade and fantastic interior. Guillem Sagrera built this area between 1426 and 1448. Today it is the home of the Museum of Arts.
