Learn about the Renaturalization of the Manzanares River on our guided tour of Madrid Río. The Renaturalization took place in 2016 by the Madrid City Council where the goal was to recover the ecological corridor.
The Renaturalization of the Manzanares have brought a lot of amazing changes. Since the return of the natural state of the river, fish have bred again, increasing the biodiversity. Catfish, gobies, carp and more sea creatures now inhabit the river for all to see. Additionally, because of the renaturalization, the bird population has increased in diversity. More than 50 species have been spotted, including herons, chickens, seagulls, and even the Nile Goose.
The renaturalization has brought many amazing changes for visitors to explore. The guided tour of Madrid Río Park is not a scientific or technical discourse on biology, but an experience of enjoyment so you can gain knowledge on the incredible transformation of the river’s renaturalization and how it is transforming the city!
