Enjoy this unique Tour of the Port of Barcelona to discover Barcelona’s old harbour and learn everything about its traditional fishing methods. You will get to know the real daily activity of the port next to the fishermen and fisherwomen, together with a marine biologist guide, who will explain you all about the world behind of sustainable fishing and the current ways put in place in the Port of Barcelona to protect the sea and its biodiversity.

You will first enter at the Port, which is not possible to do unless joining this tour, inside you will discover this old harbour and its ancient seafaring tradition, such as the care of the moorings and other traditional practices. Your guide will explain how the Port of Barcelona has evolved over the years, adapting to the needs of the city, and its trade activity. You will also learn about which fish is captured nearby Barcelona area, so you will perharp grab some great ideas about what fish to eat during your stay in the city!

In the meantime you will enjoy the spectacle of the boats when they enter the port. After a long day of work, it is time for them to sell the fish collected in the Fish auction, a building where the fish is sold to companies, markets, restaurants every afternoon. We will be inside the Fish auction and you will get to see first hand how the process happens in between the fish gets from the sea and in our markets and plates.

Overview

The sidewalks and streets around the Barceloneta area present optimal accessibility conditions with regular and compact paving. The tour takes place along the pier of the Barcelona Fishing Port, including the entrance to the Fish Market, where it is auctioned. Most of the route does not present significant unevenness, except at the entrance to the Lonja where there is an access ramp with a slope greater than 12%. Some sections of the route have uneven pavement, but most are passable for wheelchair users. The distance traveled in total is about 0.5 km.
